Elips pellet rig

Postby chrisfishy » 04 Aug 2013 20:02

Hi all.

I've recently bought some Hinders Elips pellet (10mm).
Usually I drill out my pellets and use a small clip to keep them on the hair. I've found this is not possible with the Elips, I'm not the most delicate of people and have found they split either on the drill or when the baiting needle is inserted.

Just wanted to know how others rig them up: does anyone use bait bands or superglue?

Cheers,
Chris

Yeah, I think I'm going to do the same Dave.

Not got a clue what they are like, but Nigel Botherway swears by them.....in saying that, if I had a bait company paying me royalties for shouting about them I'd say they worked as well!

I use them all the time. Just superglue back to back on the hair. I usually have 3.on.in thee summer to make it harder for the chub to hook themselves.

Also been using them for years but I drill mine all the time now... don't get many splitting? Gave up using superglue as most of it ended up on my chair and fingertips

Chris I have been using these pellets for years and are one of the best. 10mm is small but these I believe are much better than larger ones. I use a slip knot or lasso on the hair. You just open up the loop pop in the pellet and pull tight. Not many people use this method of attaching the pellet and everyone I've shown now use it as a preferred method. If people are interested then I could post this on my blog. Or not if this is seen as advertising Mr moderator.

I find the best way of using brittle pellets like elips is to tie a bait band onto the hair and then just band the pellet its that easy

Yes I remember you showing me Kenny, I must say that the presentation does look good.
There's a great little tutorial on YouTube: http://youtu.be/ug7NmeLxklY
Got a couple of days on the Wye next week so in going to try a few methods.

Thanks,
Chris
