Hi Chaps

Do you guys use the Elipse all year round even in the colder conditions? I tend to just use them in the warmer and milder weather.

Hi Chaps - I've been using Bankside XL grubbers for a couple of seasons. Pretty good pellets all year round, and an elipse.

Cheers, Rich

Rich, the Bankside XL Grubbers are in my bait armoury too. Very good, I've got a lot of confidence in them.

Hi Searcher - I tend to use two on a hair, wrapped in some lamprey past (from Teme Severn). Lampreys aren't found in my local river (the Goyt) so I don't really know if the fish like them.

Cheers, Rich

Hi Rich, yeah, generally two on a hair for me two, superglued on. Fished with a small PVA mesh bag of mixed size pellets.

By the way, are Elips and Grubbers one and the same. According to Hinders and Bankside they are different pellets (they would say that I suppose.)

Best bait by far for me last season was 2 medium elips superglued on a hair. This was then wrapped in some homemade paste, just fishmeal, ground pellets and eggs. To this I added some Teme Severn Lamprey flavour.

I plan on using the same method this year, but using PVA insted of the feeder. PVA is cheaper nowdays and I have never realy given it a go so its going to be interesting to see how it compares with the feeder. I fish mostly the same areas all season so I should get an idea.

When I say Elips were the best bait, I mean in terms of fish on the bank. Some sessions on the Trent I often add over 15 fish. However my 3 biggest of the season, 10lb+, all fell to boilie. Boilie is my first choice on the tidal section.
