Tench Fishing

Large tench may be found in gravel pits or deep, slow-moving waters with a clayey or silty bottom and lots of aquatic vegetation. They take a variety of baits but are "nibblers" and can be difficult to hook.

I'm really looking forward to the Spring and getting out after the tench. I fished a new-ish water last Spring and sort of fell in love with it. No monsters in there (unless you believe the bailiff, that is !), but some very hard fighting pretty tinca's. Roll on !

Well, I had my first tench of the Spring on Monday (16th March) from the water in the photo above, and I don't think I've ever caught a prettier tench. It was a gorgeous shade of a green, I wish I'd took a photo of it now.
